1. Use Club Soda To Clean Off Liquid Stains
If you have spilled something on the carpet like juice, or even mud, you should use club soda to remove the stain. The carbonation and lack of sugar in club soda make it an ideal candidate for removing discoloration and messes from the carpet. Simply take the club soda and pour it on the stain. Let it soak in for a couple minutes and then use a clean towel to blot off the stain. You will be surprised at how easy and effective it is.
2. Use Dishwasher Detergent To Clean Grease
Grease stains can be one of the most difficult to remove from carpets. The grease will soak into the carpet's fibers, making it seem nearly impossible to remove. Something like club soda, or even a carpet cleaner will work better on dirt and liquid stains, but not grease. Instead, you can use dishwasher detergent. Simply mix some dish soap in water and spray it onto the stain. Let it sit for a moment to combat the grease and then blot it up. You may need to do it a few times to get the full effect, but, after a couple tries, you should get the results you want.
3. Freeze Gum Before Removing It
If you have gum stick in your carpet you probably think it is a lost cause. If you try to pull the gum off of the carpet while it is still sticky, residue will be left in the carpet fibers. Instead, take a piece of ice and freeze the gum first. Once the gum has been frozen, it should pop off much easier than if you had tried to pull at sticky pieces.
4. Warm Wax Stains With An Iron
If you had a wax spill or crayon stuck in your carpet, you can get it out by heating it up. You don't want to make it totally liquefied, but you can use a towel and an iron to warm the area just enough so that you can peel the wax from the carpet.
