Below are some tips on cleaning the exterior of your business using this piece of equipment.
Prepare the Wall Surfaces
The high pressure spray of water and detergent from your pressure washer can remove mildew, grime, and dirt off all exterior wall surfaces. Before you start pressure washing, you need to make some preparations. Make sure all doors and windows are closed. Remove any obstacles that may be outside, such as a bench, potted flowers, etc. so you do not trip over them or get the hose tangled in them. Cover all exterior electrical components, such as electric meters and light fixtures, with a plastic tarp.
Wet the wall surfaces down first to help loosen the dirt and grime. You can do this by using the pressure washer with clear water on a low setting, or you can use a garden hose. Let the wall sit for a few minutes and then start washing.
If there is a lot of mildew on the exterior wall, make a 50/50 bleach and water solution and put it in a spray bottle. Spray the bleach solution on the mildew to kill the spores. This will also loosen the mildew so you can remove it with the pressure washer.
Use the Pressure Washer
Put the cleaning solution you are using in the pressure washer, and then spray the walls from the bottom up using a high pressure spray. It makes it easier if you do sections at a time. When you are finished, flush the pressure washer and put clear water in it. Set the pressure washer on a medium setting, and spray the water on the surfaces to rinse the cleaning solution off the walls.
If you have stubborn dirt and grime on the wall, your pressure washer may come with a scrub brush attachment that you can use to scour these areas. If not, you can scrub these areas by hand with a scrub brush.
