A Quick Deep Cleaning Checklist For Fall

At the beginning of fall, you should give your house a thorough cleaning just like you do during the spring, since you will be spending a lot of time inside of your house during the fall and winter months. Here is a quick checklist of areas of your home that you should clean during your fall-cleaning week.

#1 Clean Your Windows

During the summer months, lots of dirt can get on the outside and inside of your windows. If you want to enjoy a clear view out of your windows during the winter, take some time to clean your windows inside and outside this fall.

To clean your windows, simply squirt a mixture of water and dish soap on your windows and wipe them clean with a microfiber cloth. It is best to clean your windows when it is cloudy outside so you can more easily see and address streaks on your windows.

When you clean your windows, be sure to use a cloth to wipe down the window frames and clean any gunk out of the window still. 

#2 Clean All Blinds

The blinds in your house are right by the window where the air is always moving, which can result in them getting covered in a lot of dust. Put a brush attachment onto your vacuum cleaner and run it over both sides of your blinds to remove all the dust that has built up. You can also take a microfiber cloth, get it damp, and run it over your blinds to pick up and remove any left behind dirt. 

#3 Clean Your Walls

Your walls are probably one of the surfaces that is overlooked when you clean. However, even if they look clean, dirt, dust, and oils build up on your walls. 

There are a few different ways you can clean your walls. You can clean them with a brush attachment on your vacuum machine. Or you can take a duster and run it across the surface of your walls. For any heavy hitting areas that you can see are visibly dirty, you can clean those with a washcloth, water, and some dish soap. 

#4 Clean All Cabinets

The cabinets in your kitchen need to be cleaned at least once a year. Pull everything out of your cabinets, vacuum up the crumbs that got into your cupboards, rinse out your cabinet liners, and then put everything back.

Use a wood cleaner to remove any food, grease, and other particles that have gotten stuck to the surface of your cabinets. 

#5 Clean The Chimney

If you have a wood burning stove, you should clean the chimney before you start using it to heat your home. It is a good idea to let a professional handle this job for you.
